Daylight Community Development has partnered with Decro Corporation and the Downtown Women’s Center to provide a 46-unit supportive housing project for women experiencing homelessness and survivors of domestic violence

This initiative, named “Oatsie’s Place,” is designed to offer crucial housing and support services for these vulnerable populations in Los Angeles. The building’s architectural design incorporates features such as open stairs for physical activity, resident support amenities, a community room, a roof deck with courtyard views, and solar shading to mitigate the impact of the hot summer sun.

The project is named in honor of Marylouise Oatsie, who has been actively involved in fundraising and advocacy for the Downtown Women’s Center. Oatsie’s contributions, including her involvement in passing a significant sales tax measure, have provided essential funding for homeless services, leading to the construction of four new sustainable houses for homeless women, one of which bears her name. In a city where homelessness remains a pressing issue, “Oatsie’s Place” stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts and dedication of individuals like Oatsie, organizations like the Downtown Women’s Center, and their partners in addressing this critical concern.
